Once Amir Al Momeneen was proceeding towards Syria when the countrymen of Unbar met him .Seeing him, they began to walk on foot and then ran in front of him .He inquired why they were doing so and they replied that this is the way we respect the chiefs .Then he said: By Allah this does not benefit your chiefs .You are belaboring yourself in this world and earning misery for the next world by it. How harmful is the labor in its wake there is punishment ,and how profitable is the ease
with which there is deliverance from Hell.
حکمت37
طُوبَى لِمَنْ ذَکَرَ الْمَعَادَ وَ عَمِلَ لِلْحِسَابِ وَ قَنِعَ بِالْکَفَافِ وَ رَضِیَ عَنِ اللَّهِ.
خوشا به حال کسى که به یاد معاد باشد، براى حسابرسى قیامت کار کند، با قناعت زندگى کند و از خداوند راضى باشد.
Blessed is the person who kept in mind the next life, acted so as to be able to render account ; remained content with what sufficed him and remained pleased with Allah
حکمت 44
لِسَانُ الْعَاقِلِ وَرَاءَ قَلْبِهِ وَ قَلْبُ الْأَحْمَقِ وَرَاءَ لِسَانِهِ .
زبان عاقل در پشت قلب اوست و قلب احمق، در پشت زبانش.
The tongue of the wise man is behind his heart and the heart of the fool is behind his tongue
حکمت 40
لَا قُرْبَةَ بِالنَّوَافِلِ إِذَا أَضَرَّتْ بِالْفَرَائِضِ .
عمل مستحب، انسان را به خدا نزدیک نمى گرداند اگر به واجب زیان رساند.
Supernumerary prayers cannot bring about nearness to Allah if they hamper obligatory ones.
حکمت سی و نه
مَنْ أَطَالَ الْأَمَلَ أَسَاءَ الْعَمَلَ .
کسى که آرزوهایش طولانى است، کردارش نیز ناپسند است.
Whoever prolongs his desire, ruins his actions.
